Season 2 Episode 9 Ratings: Finale Brings Ratings Bump

Looks like the season 2 finale of Falling Skies was able to bring a slight bump in ratings as the 18-49 demographic was 1.4 (up from 1.3) and the total viewers was at 3.84 million (up from 3.46).

It's good to see the season ended with not only a great final episode but also with an uptick in the ratings.  This season's ratings were actually quite steady all season long and with TNT renewing the season early on I think it's safe to say that Falling Skies is on track for a long and health life on television.

Season 2 Episode 8 Ratings: Looks Familiar

The ratings for last Sunday's episode of Falling Skies are in and they sure look mighty familiar.  With a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating and 3.46 million total viewers, episode 8's raitings were nearly identical with last weeks.  The only difference is a slight uptick in total viewers from 3.34 million to 3.46 million.

Season 2 Episode 7 Ratings: Up and Down

Looks like ratings for Falling Skies is finally a little different this week as Sunday's episode had an adult 18-49 rating of 1.3 while total viewers came in at 3.34 million.  For those keeping track, the key adult 18-49 rating is up .1 from 1.2 the previous episode while total viewers is down slightly from the 3.45 million the previous episode.

It's interesting to see the adult 18-49 rating be up while the total viewers is down.  For the uninitiated, the adult 18-49 rating is pretty much the only rating the networks care about because it's the only one advertisers care about for the most part.  As such, fans of the show should be pleased to see the uptick in the key rating.

Season 2 Episode 6 Ratings: More of the Same... Again

Last Sunday's new episode brought in the same 1.2 rating for adults 18-49 that we've seen for the previous two episodes.  Overall viewership did drop slightly to 3.45 million versus the 3.6 million the previous two episodes pulled in.

With the Olympics starting up, it will be interesting to see how much they impact the ratings.

Season 2 Episode 5 Ratings: More of the Same

Looks like the ratings for Fallings Skies is settling in as episode 5's ratings were identical to last week's with a 1.2 rating for the key 18-49 demo and 3.6 million total viewers.  While these numbers are a little down from last season, the fact that TNT already renewed Falling Skies means that the show has a bright future as long as the ratings continue to hold steady.

Season 2 Episode 4 Ratings: Holding Steady

It looks as though the ratings slide for Falling Skies may be over as episode 4's ratings hold steady with a 1.2 adult 18-49 rating.  Total viewership was actually up a bit to 3.6 million from last weeks 3.4 million.

It will be interesting to see if the 1.2 adult rating (the one that advertisers care about most) is where this season settles.  The last few weeks had Falling Skies up against heavy hitters such as the NBA Finals, Olypmic Trials and the BET awards show.  This week didn't really pose any similar threats, so I would have actually liked to see the ratings bump up a bit.

Season 2 Episode 3 Ratings Continue to Slide

The third episode of this second season of Falling Skies continues the downward ratings trend as the 18-49 rating dropped to 1.2 from last week's 1.3.  Total viewers fell as well to 3.4 million from last week's 3.8 million.

While dropping ratings are never a good sign, it should be noted that Falling Skies was up against not only the Olympic Trials but also the BET Awards Show.  I know I seem to keep making excuses for the dropping Falling Skies Ratings, but the truth is, the show has been going up against some stiff (and temporary) competition so far this season.  While the Olympic Trials may be over, the Olympics themselves start pretty soon and will likely prove to hurt the Falling Skies ratings as well.

Season 2 Episode 2 Ratings Dip Slightly

The ratings for the second episode of this second Falling Skies season of have dipped a bit as the key 18-49 demo fell to 1.3 from the 1.5 the season premiere pulled in.  Total viewers were 3.8 million, down from the 4.5 million the premiere had.

While the ratings did drop a bit, it isn't uncommon for the season premieres to have stronger ratings that following episodes.  Last year's ratings seemed to flatten out at around a 1.4 raiting for the 18-49 demo and around 4 million total viewers.  So this second episode is still a bit lower than last year's ratings, but with last year's season considered a pretty big success, I think it's safe to say this season is definitely doing alright.

Season 2 Premiere Ratings Strong But Down From Last Year

The Falling Skies season 2 premiere opened strong, but not as strong as last year's premiere as it pulled in 4.5 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49.  Last year's premiere drew a 2.0 rating among the key adults 18-49 demographic.

While dropping from a 2.0 to a 1.5 in the key demographic is a decent drop, it's also not too surprising considering it was up against the NBA finals as well as golf.

Falling Skies Season Finale Ratings

Looks like the Falling Skies Finale was a big hit as it drew in 5.6 million viewers - the biggest audience since the premiere. This is a pretty significant jump from the 4 million viewers all the other episodes were hovering around. I'm sure being a season finale as well as two hours long while also having a Falling Skies marathon leading up to it all boosted the numbers.

It will be very interesting to see if next year's season premiere opens with bigger numbers than this year's premiere. Either way, I'm sure the cast and crew are excited this season ended on a high note with the ratings.
